Whoops
2023. Watercolor/Acrylic
I created this piece for a contest entitled "Whoops" held by my school. My goal was to capture the motion of a dramatic accident. I did this by emphasizing the body language of the waiter and painting small water droplets. I painted fish inside the cups to add an element of storytelling to the piece and to leave the viewer wondering why a waiter would be carrying goldfish. My final step in creating this piece was cutting out the image and pasting it onto a purple background to make the figure and the splashes of water pop.
3rd Place - Congressional Art Contest (U.S. House of Representatives) - My artwork was displayed in a gallery and on a billboard in downtown Denver.
